Welcome to Aunty Viv's Soup Kitchen

For years, Aunty Viv has been a pillar of hope in the Hout Bay community, cooking and serving meals to children and families in need. Every week, we provide over 300 meals to vulnerable individuals, offering not just sustenance but also dignity and love. What started as a small initiative has grown into a lifeline for many, but we’re always striving to do more.

Why We’re Planting Seeds of Hope

Food Security

Self Sustainability

Reduce food waste, promote composting, and contribute to greening efforts in Hout Bay.

Serve Nutritional Meals

Ensuring access to nutritious, which are locally grown vegetables.

Community Engagement:

Encourage participation from volunteers, residents, and local schools.

Our Mission

To provide nutritious meals to our community while ensuring the sustainability of Aunty Viv’s soup kitchen by growing our own fresh vegetables. With the rising demand for meals and limited resources, our garden will significantly reduce the cost of purchasing produce, even with support from Love in a Bowl. By cultivating our own food, we aim to sustain ourselves, meet the growing need, and leave a green footprint for future.

Our Vision

To transform our community into a model of food security and sustainability by creating vibrant, green spaces that feed not only the body but also the spirit. We envision a future where families grow their own food, children learn the value of the earth, and neighbors unite to share the bounty of their labor. Through our initiative, we aim to inspire a movement of local empowerment, environmental stewardship, and shared prosperity for generations to come.

Why This Matters

Food security is a growing challenge in our community. Many families rely on the meals provided by Aunty Viv’s Soup Kitchen as their only source of food. By starting a food garden, we can reduce our dependency on external donations, create a sustainable source of fresh produce, and empower our community to be more self-reliant.
